Offical Open Access Day LinkThe Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition, the Public Library of Science, and Students for Free Culture are sponsoring the first international Open Access Day. Building on worldwide momentum toward Open Access to publicly funded research, Open Access Day will create a key opportunity for the higher education community and the general public to understand more clearly the opportunities of wider access and use of content. The Oviatt Library will be offering:
  • A live webcast with Philip E. Bourne- faculty and students can ask this visionary questions about Open Access.
  • Five 1 minute videos about Open Access from the perspective of a teacher, librarian, funder, student, and a patient advocate on why Open Access matters to them.

When: Tuesday October 14, 2008 @ 7 P.M.

I Had the opportunity to see Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping at my school today, as part of the University Student Union Speak Your Mind 2008-2009 lecture series which deals with issues of consumerism and debt. This entire series of lectures is quite timely considering the current economic situation that America.
